After years of increasingly desperate conflict with the forces of the Combined Army; the invasion of Paradiso, the destruction of the Daedalus Gate, the 3rd Offensive, the breach of the Acheron Blockade and the invasion of Concilium, it took a monumental crisis to finally halt the forces of the Evolved Intelligence and through the most unexpected of circumstances.

The explosion of the T’zechi Digester has caused the Evolved Intelligence to reconsider its strategy for conquering the Human Sphere.

As the forces of the Combined Army assaulted Concilium in pursuit of the artifact known as the T’zechi Digester, it was stolen from a secure O-12 research facility by the Tohaa Mercenary force the Spiral Corps who attempted to transport it out of the Human Sphere and back to Tohaa space. However before the Digester could be brought off planet the operatives transporting it were ambushed by forces of the EI and rather than letting the device fall into the hands of their most hated enemy, the Tohaa forces instead  triggered the alien artifact to go into active defense mode and detonate.

The detonation of the T’zechi Digester led to a catastrophic series of explosions all over Concilium which have created the so called Quantum Anomaly Zones (QAZ’s), areas of space where the normal rules of Physics don’t seem to apply. The blast of the QAZ’s caused thousands of casualties, caused many more people to go missing, and turned the stricken areas into very hostile environments. Powerful waves of quantum disturbance also impacted the planet’s tectonic plates and threatened to destroy Concilium itself. As all hope looked lost the O-12 Security Council were contacted by representatives of the Ur Hegemony, the alien empire under the rule of the EI with a most unexpected offer, a truce.

Units of the Combined Army have been deployed across Concilium Prima to assist in containment of the QAZ’s

The forces of the EI would halt their invasion and provide quantum-field containment technology in order to halt the expansion of the QAZ’s ravaging Concilium, after all the T’zechi Digester is of no use to them if it is destroyed alongside the planet. However the EI refuses to share the technology behind their devices making the forces of humanity dependent on their former enemies to preserve their most important capital planet.

O-12 have granted representatives of the EI a provisional seat on the Security Council and Combined Army forces have even been deployed to assist in efforts to contain the spreading QAZ’s. However it would be unwise to forget that the Combined Army, self-serving and opportunistic as it is, still  has a fleet on standby in orbit around the planet, and that at any time humanity’s new circumstantial ally may no longer be willing to help them.

Amazing. Years of fighting against the probing tendrils of an unstoppable alliance of alien species, and all it took to find peace was the actions of another alien species. Methinks we’re still the pawns in this galactic chess game.

We would have liked to welcome the newest member of the O-12 Security Concil with proper ceremony and protocol, but it turned out the prepared Conference Room for it turned into a giant transparent melted plastic flower overnight. O-12 Security Concil will contact Ur-Hegemony representatives at a later date for a proprer and formal introduction to the Concil.

Makes you stop and wonder, wouldn’t it be better to just give the Digester to EI, right?

(this year I’m fighting for Combined Army, so :P)

-Locals are encouraged not to exhume seed-embryos found upon Concilium. These are the new hope of valuable citizens fallen to protect your ungrateful homes.
We encourage reconstruction efforts to avoid these areas or delay until such time as the new citizen can safely be extracted.
Unwarranted disturbance of seed-embryos will be met with an appropriate response.-

I know good people who died to Shasvastii. I don’t trust them, but if they’re willing to help, I see no reason to stop them. As long as we remember where we stand.

I have great respect for our former foes, but I have yet to trust them. They must show rather than say that we can trust their willingness to keep the peace and help the human sphere with the current crisis.

Opportunities for peace ought always be applauded, and as we face this severe crisis they are welcomed. But the events of the war cannot be forgotten.
