To further our alliance, Yu Jing's White Banner will conduct training exercises against Haqqislam. The forces of White Banner will attempt to capture Haqqislam's supplies at Haqq's homesite, Bhai.
Under the leadership of the tactician Saladin, we established a foothold at Bhai and were deployed ahead of our adversary with aggressive positioning.
The adversary quickly struck back. First discovering, then eliminating our Fiday. Tian Gou revelated himself and our hidden Nadhir took the opportunity to attack. Tian Gou successfully dodged and Shang Ji moved in to dispatch our Nadhir.
The adversary's deceit had only just begun. A Tiger Soldier moved on our right flank; eliminating our Barid and Saladin.
With Saladin eliminated form the field, we lacked leadership. We only managed to missile strike the Tiger Soldier and reposition troopers.
Thinking our resolve was weakened, the adversary's Jing Qo moved in to capture our supplies. Fortunately our mercenary Liberto and an allied QAZ were up to the task. They delayed the adversary long enough to halt their attack run.
Heading into the end of the training exercises, we took the opportunity to secure a victory. Taking command, our veteran Asawira, along with a Rafiq REM, moved to eliminate Jing Qo and secure a second supply box.
Sacrificing it's life, the Rafiq delivered the second supply box to our Asawira. Our forces retreated into defensive positions, awaiting the adversary's final attack.
With few other options, their Weibing made a desperate attack run for one of our boxes. Our defenses were sufficient enough to stop it. The adversary concluded their activities when Tiang Gou completed a classified objective.
The training exercises ended with a 5-4 victory to Haqqislam. We thank our allies Yu Jing for their partnership in this event. You competed wisely and bravely. We wish you luck in your future endeavors.
I won the Lt roll and chose to go first thinking I could alpha with a fiday. I held the fiday and mukhtar in reserve. Because my opponent had so many points off the board, I really thought they had a tag in reserve. In hindsight, I should have held the fiday and hunzakut in reserve as they're the best options for dealing with a tag and dealing with unknow over watch in general.
My opponent had an excellent run with the tiger soldier. I could have put the flash bot watching my right flank or put the mutt nearby and that would have probably stopped the option altogether. Lesson learned.
My opponent and I briefly discussed the game afterwards and he aptly pointed out that he spent too many orders engaging my liberto. He could have just put down smoke and grabbed the box. This would have changed the third turn entirely.
We both forgot about QAZ AROs and misplayed them several times. I think if we had, I would have been in a much tougher spot.
I mostly got outplayed this game but it was still a fun game against a good opponent. The table was fun too and thematic for this campaign mission.
Well played! I’m skeptical of the reliability of these “allied” QAZ beasts though.
Good Report Commander.
