Audio/Visual Report:
“Akers and team in position. Your reports were accurate commander, there is a Morat squad where they should definitely not be. However, I’m not sure they know this part of the facility is about to clean itself with a nanomachine based bio purge. Should we assume aggressive intent?” reported Aquila Akers.

“They are a Morat force, you have enough experience with them to know it is always agressive intent. Interesting note about the purge… See if you can take the fight to them and keep them out of that safe room in the middle. That should repel their possible assault,” replied Commander W. English

(I assumed Abyss would be a decent reference to a deep water base with Quantum zone problems) :D

Turn 1:

“Ok Team, we’re going to move up and take that Panic Room. Once we have it we’ll try to hold them off until the cleaning purge hits. Sierra REM, you are going to try and distract them with heavy fire. Mirage (hexa) I’m leaving it up to you to take down their heavy weaponry,” commanded Akers.

The Sierra REM took action once the Morats were in position on an outpost rooftop. Its mechanical legs propelled it around a blind corner hoping to catch the Morats off guard by firing its HMG, but was unable to overcome the prepared position the Morats held. In response, a Morat soldier fired a set of projectiles from his missile launcher instantly disabling the REM.

At the same time, Mirage was attempting to get into position to surprise the previously occupied Morat squad. After climbing down a railing and running up a nearby construction platform, she finally saw the unaware Morats. If she had only taken her time, she may have struck true, but her frantic pace spoiled her shots and both missed by a hair.

“Bad news Akers, we’ve failed to pin down the primary Morat squad. Be careful on your approach,” reported Mirage with a twinge of embarrassment.

“I’ll cover your approach with my auxbot,” interjected one of the auxilia.

“Roger, we’ll change our angle of approach and use the Panic Room to our advantage to block their LOS.” Replied Akers.

Akers directed his squad of fusiliers to follow him on his approach to the Panic Room. The path seemed clear, but he switched the ammo in his Multi Marksman Rifle to antimaterial to knock out one of the safety antennae near the Morat forces. Once safely inside, he directed the fusiliers to take up positions around the room.

Meanwhile, the auxilia directly approached the Morat squad while keeping out of direct fire. As he took a defensive position behind a nearby structure, he sent his auxbot out to distract the enemy team. Unfortunately, a quick hack from the Morat forces severed the auxbot from the auxilia’s HUD.

“Alright Bolt team, you are up, close the gap and start to put the pressure on the Morats on their approach,” relayed Akers.

In response the Morats began to move. As they came down from the high ground, the responding PanO forces were able to take down the autocannon carrying troop with returning sniper fire from Mirage. Orders were shouted from the Morat leader as they moved closer and were able to launch missiles into the Panic Room. The fusilier fired back in an attempt to outgun the Morat, but failed and was struck by the blast while Akers dodged out of the fire.

“Cover me, we can recover his cube,” shouted Akers as he pulled the fusilier’s body out of the way.

The Morats continued their assault and moved even closer to the Panic Room, until a bulleteer laying in wait began volleying spitfire rounds at the enemy fire team locking them in place for the moment.
Unexpectedly a Morat came down through the roof in the Panoceanian forces’ back line. He rapidly took down an auxilia and mulebot before they could turn and see the incoming fire. With the back line open, he moved onto a construction piece to gain the high ground on the bolt and aquila teams. He released a burst into Akers, but his armor held against the small arms fire and he turned to see his attacker as the Morat pulled back into cover.

(NOTE: WE DID NOT HAVE A PANIC ROOM, WE MEASURED THE DISTANCE FOR A PANIC ROOM AND DREW IT WITH THE TEAL DICE. THE PANELS ARE THE WALLED PORTIONS, THE OPENINGS ARE THE OPEN WIDE GATE DOORS.)

Turn 2:

The nanite bio scrubbers began to activate. Alarms sounded all over the facility.

“People, start tightening your formation, you’ll need to join me in this room shortly everyone!” Shouted Akers over the comms.

The bulleteer continued to split fire between the Morat fireteam and an incoming female Morat with hungries in front. First the Missile launcher wielding Morat went down.

“That’s it! Keep it up,” encouraged Akers.

The bulleteer’s barrels were put to the test as it maintained a stream of fire towards both enemy groups. Next was a Morat with a more standard loadout, then an ikadron… The enemy was running low on troops.

The Morat forces pressed on. With a hefty throw, the female Morat placed smoke to protect the incoming hungry attempting to break into the Panic Room. Protected by the smoke, the hungry came shrieking through the doorway as it successfully broke into the room. It had Akers in its sights as it ignored the wounds from the gunfire until it could get a bite in. The creature successfully chomped into Akers’ armor, but was unable to deliver its explosive payload as it slump dead against Akers on the ground.

“Waaay too close everyone,” said Akers, extremely relieved that the creature didn’t detonate.

Part 3:

“Get in now! We’re out of time,” urged Akers to his troops. “The nanite bio scrubbers are doing a full purge within seconds.”

The bolts and bulleteer began to move for the Panic room while taking unsuccessful shots at the Morat commander. At the same time, their heavily armed ORC trooper and Mirage began sprinting for the doors of the Panic room.

The commander of the Morats closed in on the panic room, using smoke and carefully placed shots to repel the remaining troops in his way. He seemed dead set on taking down Akers and rushed his way into the Panic Room. Both commanders placed their shots but the nearby fusilier scored the final shot of the encounter and ended his assault.

Akers slumped as the rest of his troops made it into the Panic Room as the nanite scrubbers washed over the facility.

Operations Result:

-Morat forces repelled

-Panic Room maintained and held
