Shattergrounds

Infinity

Hello Shattergrounds Commanders, we’re one week into the campaign and the end of Phase 1 is rapidly approaching so thought we would highlight a selection of what we think are some of the best Battle Reports that have been submitted to the Campaign System so far.

If your favorite report isn’t here don’t worry, we can’t possibly cover them all and your own high review ratings in the campaign system count far more than our personal opinions here.

Without further ado let’s look at some of the reports that caught our eyes this last week.

From Haqqislam General Perzan and their Nomad opponent Jesus comes this report of a 350 point battle using the Reinforcements Mod and the new ITS 15 Mission B-Pong between Hassassins and Nomads in the Bhai Terraforming Environmental Studies Campus.

An excellently written report using a comic book style that really conveys the frenetic action and captures the key moments of the battle.

From Nomads commander Razek2648 and their PanOceania opponent JamesPrime comes this amazing narrative battle which was a 300 points battle of Panic Room in  Montalbán- Underwater Marine Research Facilities.

This report is written entirely in the narrative format with a whole prologue setting up the continuing adventures of CSU Larry and his crew. A highly engaging read and the images are so well done and very thematic.

Another narrative based report from Montalbán featuring PanOceania Commander W.English and their Combined Army opponent Khallus. This mission was also a 300 point battle of Panic Room in Montalbán- Underwater Marine Research Facilities.

We liked this mission both for the narrative and for how well even the most basic terrain setup with a thrown together Panic Room can lead to engaging and entertaining battles.

From our Spanish speaking players we have this short but very sweet battle report from Ariadna Commander Nonora81 and their PanOceania opponent Luisjoey. This 300 points battle in the highly contested location of Rhodan Main Spaceport using the Capture & Protect mission.

A great battle report with two funny videos that catch crucial moments in the game.

Many players can’t meet up to play in person however the excellent Infinity Module for Table Top Simulator (TTS) provides a way for people to take part in the Shattergrounds Campaign and play opponents from all over the world. One such excellent TTS report comes form ALEPH commander Captain Jag Kara and their Yu-Jing opponent Adm. Philip von Kruse. They played a 300 point battle in the Bois Bleu Gate location using the Superiority mission which was pitched as a training exercise between units from Steel Phalanx and the Imperial Service.

This report shows a great utilization of the TTS system for recording battle reports and it’s easy to follow along the battle step by step through the images captured using the system.

Another battle report from Rhodan Main Spaceport this time featuring Nomads commander Fasbi playing Corregidor against their Yu-Jing opponent Gorthec playing Invincible Army in a 300 Points game of Cutthroat.

Another report making use of simple easy to setup terrain that really shines due to the effort put into identifying the positions of all the units on the table and accurately showing the movement paths for each turn.

Yet another report from Rhodan Main Spaceport, it was the most highly fought over location for the majority of the first week, between Combined Army commander Blitchga playing Shasvastii and their Haqqislam opponent Asagauth playing Vanilla Haqq. They played a 300 points game as part of their ongoing Spec-Ops league and this mission features both of their Spec-Ops units in the thick of the action.

This mission showcased some amazing 3D printed terrain, a narrative about a Shasvastii agent on the run and some great photos that show how certain orders played out. An excellent all round report.

Some reports have great narratives and some reports have great play by plays but few reports combine them as well or with as much polish as this report from Yu-Jing commander Yue Fei and their PanOceania opponent Sir Wall. They played a 300 Points game at Tai Sui Facilities using the Shattergrounds version of the Cryogenics mission.

Everything about this report jumps off the page to the reader; the narrative is engaging with an into featuring everyone’s favorite Tohaa triple (or maybe quadruple) agent Armand Le Muet, the terrain setup is fantastic and thematic, the play by play reporting is easy to follow and the images are top notch. This is the definition of a high quality battle report, amazing work.

Another report where the quality of the narrative and use of thematic terrain produce a report that jumps out from the pack. In this 300 point battle in Okolnir Processing Hub, Ariadna commander Maj Thomas Williams playing Merovingia went up against Nomad commander Shilkand playing Tunguska with both plates looking to cause maximum damage in the Looting & Sabotaging mission.

The terrain from this report is outstanding and having the pictures formatted to show the table from the point of view of hovering surveillance drones is inspired. The narrative is both engaging and funny, well worth your time to read and rate.

An excellent report for anyone wanting to understand the thought processes of a player as their tactics adapt and change during the course of  a game is the battle report between Yu-Jing commander Killa_kaan and their Ariadna opponent uberbranchez. They played a 300 point game of  Shattergrounds Cryogenics at Tai Sui Facilities.

This report is a masterclass in understanding the tactics employed by each player and how to adapt to changing situations on the fly in order to be successful in a mission. Well worth a read for anyone interested in improving their own gameplay.

A battle report showing that even lower points games can be thrilling engagements is the one from PanOceania commander Thanan Rollice and their ALEPH opponent DPA. They played a 200 points mission in Montalbán- Underwater Marine Research Facilities with an amazingly thematic table that suited their location perfectly.

The turn by turn narrative in this mission is great and it’s easy to follow the gameplay steps while enjoying the story as it unfolds.

Something different now with a custom mission from Haqqislam commander Perzan and Nomads commander Zazyl.

Their custom mission Ziggurat, features a random Objective that has to be controlled at the end of each round but can also potentially explode and has personalities from Aristria acting as specialist troops. They have helpfully included a copy of the mission for players to download and try out. An excellent report with great images and engaging gameplay, very well done!

Something else completely different in the form of video battle reports from Haqqislam commander DDDDan and their Combined Army opponent firrball.  They played a 300 point battle of Cutthroat in Bhai Terraforming Environmental Studies Campus.

These players recorded their report in the form of a video which goes through the game step by step and is well worth a watch. I also really want one of those Flamingo Remotes now!

We’ll finish with a report from Tai Sui Facilities between JSA commander Serrionavyr and their Panoceania opponent Geofitz4

A fantastically written report on an absolutely stunning table of terrain. The narrative is engaging and matches well with the gameplay being shown in the well annotated images. The terrain is the star of the show in this report though and it’s hard to to be jealous of such a colorful and well laid out table setup.

That’s all the reports we have time for right now, again we’ve probably missed a few brilliant reports in our review but that’s where you can help us by linking your favorite reports in the comments below.

The end of Phase 1 is approaching and there is still all to play for before the campaign transitions into Phase 2. Lookout for more of our favorite battle reports to be highlighted again in the near future.
